Project:
Virtual Olympia
Client: Powerhouse
Museum
Summary: The
Virtual Olympia
project required 45 000 frames of digital animation
to be produced in little more than seven weeks production
time.
With a limited amount of hardware power available
for rendering and an extremely small window to produce
final animation, frame render times needed to be
in the order of 2 to 4 minutes. This is a challenge
with such a resource heavy model.
Extreme optimization measures and use of proxy models
enabled the animation to be rendered in under two
weeks. Computer labs at the University of Melbourne
were setup as a rendering farm, which grew to 110
render servers with 5 managing machines. |
